I haven't posted much in a long time but I just have to post today.
Congratulations, President Obama!
Now, that being said... let me step back for a moment of Devil's Advocacy. Simply put, as I read LJ's and watch TV... I see a whole lot of sore winners. People basically coming out and attacking Jon McCain on a personal level because he basically didn't win. People gloating, bragging and spewing words and text who have no real place to say anything at all.
Keep a couple things in perspective. Firstly, Jon McCain was an actual war hero. Not a fighter pilot who never flew in combat like our current, sitting president... but a man who spent not weeks, not months but YEARS in a POW camp. That is quite an amazing thing for him to have gotten through, made it out and kept himself and his life together well enough to actually run for President of the United States. This is something I doubt I could handle happening to me, and honestly I don't know many people who could do this. Especially people I know who get depressed because they have a job they dislike or people who are single and not doing a lot about it or people who can't afford a new game system they don't need anyway. A whole lot of people I know get depressed over a whole lot of nothing, myself included...
Secondly, I really can't say I saw anywhere near the mud slinging during this election I saw four years, eight years, twelve years ago. This was a very clean campaign over all, it had it's moments but overall... not a lot of slander.
So, that's my small rant. Take it as you will. I wanted Obama, I think he has the better policies. I didn't vote for him because he is young... or because he's African American. If it was a character race between two men I feel McCain has more of that from what he has lived through... to be honest, I don't know a whole lot about Barack Obama because he IS so young. I am hopeful, I want change to make this country better... and Obama's speech was in my mind truly inspirational.
But any way you slice it, America is at the point we either need to delivery or surrender.
A lot of hope, here...
